Windows 11 will have built-in phishing protection

At the April 5 event, Microsoft paid special attention to users who store passwords in plain text format. For example, some users store passwords in Notepad and save them as .txt files, which is not a safe practice.

And according to Windows Latest, Microsoft plans to provide phishing protection at the Windows 11 operating system level with the Sun Valley 2 update.

As you can see from the figure below, the phishing protection function will recognize the user’s input in Notepad and malicious programs, etc., and protect the user from phishing attacks by means of a pop-up window.

The feature can also detect passwords entered in forms after a user has copied content from sites such as Microsoft or Facebook.

“We’re also looking forward to bringing the power of the cloud to hardware with the flexible, updatable Microsoft Pluton Secure Processor. We’re very excited about the ecosystem’s progress so far,” Microsoft said at the event.

Windows 11’s security features are reportedly based on Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, which is integrated into the operating system and provides protection against malicious apps or browser extensions. In 22H2 or later, Microsoft Defender will provide protection against phishing using its AI-driven detection technology.

Starting with Sun Valley 2, Microsoft will offer phishing protection out of the box for Windows 11 users, and Windows will also be the first operating system in the world to offer phishing protection at the kernel level.
