The new Mac mini appears in the Studio Display firmware

Someone found a set of fields in the Studio Display firmware that have not yet been announced, which supports rumors that Apple is about to launch an updated version of the Mac mini model. The Mac mini was one of the first machines to get apple Silicon M1 processors, and there have been recent rumors that it was one of the first to get a second-generation M2 version.

Developer Steve Troughton-Smith recently found in the App Store log that the Studio Display firmware mentioned an unspecified model, most likely a new generation mac mini (“Macmini10,1”), but at the moment there are no specific details to provide except for one field.

There have been rumors that the new Mac mini will launch in the spring of 2022, and it was recently rumored that it could debut at WWDC on June 6.

WWDC is a very specific and purposeful event for Apple software systems and developers, usually less hardware is announced at the conference. For 2022, though, there may be more opportunities for hardware than usual, as it marks the end of Apple’s self-imposed two-year transition to Apple Silicon.
