CD Projekt: a single expansion of Cyberpunk 2077 and unpublished projects among the plans for 2022

CD Projekt RED shared the studio’s production plan roadmap for 2022 as part of last quarter’s financial results. In addition to the development of the already announced expansion of Cyberpunk 2077 and the next game of The Witcher, there are also new projects not yet announced, one of which would seem to have already entered the active development phase.

As we can see in the roadmap below, an indefinite number of new projects are mentioned that are still in the research and conceptual phase. However, there is also talk of the active development of a game not yet announced and based on one of the franchises of the Polish software house at the offices of The Molasses Flood, a studio acquired by CD Projekt in October last year and author of The Flame in the Flood.

For the rest, the other commitments for 2022 of CD Projekt RED are quite well known: we talk about the development of the next The Witcher with Unreal Engine 5, a new single-player mode for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, further support for the AR mobile game The Witcher: Monster Slayer and the next-gen version of The Witcher 3, which as you probably already know has been postponed to a date to be defined.

Another interesting detail that can be noted from the roadmap is that as far as Cyberpunk 2077 is concerned, Polish developers are working on a single expansion. There is no talk of “expansions” in the plural, which could confirm the hypotheses of users who claim that CD Projekt has cut one or more of the DLC originally planned.

It is not excluded, however, that simply by 2022 the developers plan to focus on a single expansion at a time. We, therefore, look forward to furthering clarification from CD Projekt. Staying on the subject, the Polish development house has also unveiled the number of copies sold of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
