The corners of the iPhone 14 Pro will be rounder in line with the larger rear camera module

Apple-focused designer Ian Zelbo said the iPhone 14 Pro’s corner curvature will be larger to match a larger array of rear cameras. Zelbo is known for making Apple HD renderings based on leaked information, having previously produced Mac Studio, Studio Display, and rumored mixed reality headsets, among others. He thinks the iPhone 14 Pro will have more arc curvature at the corners.

Based on CAD renderings, dimensions, schematics, pictures of accessory production molds, and other information, he brings a visual comparison of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro. On the other hand, the radius of the iPhone 14 Pro Max seems to be almost the same as that of the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Due to changes in the rear camera array, Apple may have been forced to change the corner radius of the iPhone 14 Pro. The iPhone 14 Pro model is expected to feature a larger rear-facing camera array to facilitate the adoption of the new 48-megapixel camera system, which will increase the size of the sensor by 57%.

The rear camera arrays of the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max roughly coincide with the bezel corner radius of each device, but when Apple increased the size of the camera array with the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, the corners of both devices did not match. While the difference between the camera arrays of the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro Max is small, the difference between the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro is large.

With the size increasing again this year, the incongruity between the curves of the camera platform, the lens and the corners of the stainless steel frame itself became too serious on the iPhone 14 Pro, leading Apple to modify the design. Zelbo says the new, larger corner radius still doesn’t exactly match the rounded corners of the rear camera array platform but is noticeably closer.
