Google Nest Hub: New clues to possibly the best display speaker of all time?

Google is developing and preparing the market launch of the next Nest Hub. Its detachable display will change everything. There are two generations of the Nest Hub so far and they were not much different.

However, this should change drastically with the Nest Hub 3rd generation. The idea that the display is not permanently installed on the device takes smart speakers with the screen to a new level.

You have already read about the “Dockable Nest Hub” several times with us. Graphics and other hints suggested that Google is working on new hardware for its smart home portfolio.

And if we are honest, this is indeed urgently needed. The latest idea that the display is detachable from the Nest Hub like a tablet can certainly put Google ahead of the competition in this type of device.

Google’s first tablet after the Pixel Slate?

Mishaal Rahman has once again dug into the source codes and found what he was looking for in the Android 13 beta. There you can read about a “Nest Dock Manager Service”. The found string contains everything we actually hope for from the new device. There is a dock, quasi the base station, to which the screen is attached. Possibly held by a magnet. The display can be removed at any time and used as a tablet.

Admittedly, this idea is not new. Lenovo, for example, offers a tablet that has a speaker integrated into a dock and thus also works as a smart speaker. From Google, however, I hope for a more complete solution that can combine both worlds really well. The basis of the system is then probably the full-fledged Android operating system.

This may ensure that Google then offers a tablet again. And then I would expect a larger display, the latest Nest Hub so far measures only 7 inches.
