One UI 4.1 Tip: This way you can make your phone (slightly) faster

Thanks to a new feature you can easily make your Samsung phone faster. After a recent ‘riot’, Samsung rolled out a subtle-but-nice gadget with One UI 4.1 to many devices.

Samsung Galaxy tip: this is how you make your phone a little faster

Shortly after the launch of Samsung’s new Galaxy S22 series, a ‘riot’ broke out from South Korea. Samsung’s Game Optimizing Service, according to some, gave too much priority to optimizing your phone’s power consumption at the expense of hardware performance.

Moreover, this would not only happen to games, but also to thousands of other applications. This did not happen with benchmark apps – which test how powerful the hardware is.

We put ‘riot’ in quotes because Samsung’s choices are actually only logical. Of course, most do not want to empty their phone battery within half an hour. And of course, you don’t optimize a benchmark on energy consumption – the reverse would be rather strange. But that aside.

As a result of the issue, many Samsung phones now have a new ‘ game performance management system ‘. This ensures that the balance between performance and energy consumption shifts more towards the former and that your phone becomes a bit faster. But you have to enable the mode yourself first.

Different game performance management system: how to enable mode

To do this, first, go to the Game Launcher app. You will find it among your other applications. In-Game launcher, tap the More menu at the bottom right, and choose Game Booster. In the Settings Game Booster menu, scroll down a bit, then tap Labs. Now under the Game Booster Labs heading, you can enable the Different game performance management system option.

Your phone is now less likely to throttle hardware performance. You should keep in mind that your battery will drain faster when you play games. Also, the difference is not huge. The Game Optimizing Service (GOS) will intervene as soon as your device gets too hot, and still put the brakes on the pure computing power that the game uses.

Although Samsung itself previously said that the CIS does not limit the performance of other apps, in some cases it does seem to be happening. If you have enabled Another game performance management system, it is, therefore, possible that your phone will also be faster with other applications.

Of course, you should not expect miracles from the Other management system. But for those who like to squeeze as much power as possible from the processor of their phone, the new model is certainly helpful.

Which phones have the new stand?

Samsung’s Game Optimizing Service is available on all Galaxy phones. You will always find it if you go to Apps via Settings, and select the option to also display the System apps. However, the latest version of the CIS is not yet available on all Samsung phones. Did your device receive the upgrade to One UI 4.1 in recent weeks? Then you can use it right now.
