Android: Google promises major innovations, more devices, faster updates and a new messenger?

The Google I/O developer conference will start tomorrow evening, which will bring about many innovations in the Android area, among other things – and these do not necessarily have to be about Android 13. Now the mood is slowly heating up and a little preview of what we can expect at the event on Wednesday has been given. In addition to the important update topic, there are even fears of a new messenger…

Android not only evolves from version to version but also the entire ecosystem and everything around it makes development steps that are implemented independently of Android 12, Android 13 or Android 14. At the Google I/O, there will be an outlook on what will be important in the coming months and maybe even years. A survey on Twitter now shows the categories in which jumps can occur.

The interim status yesterday evening showed that users are most interested in developments relating to messaging offerings under Android. Among them are likely to be some fun voters who are already looking forward to a new messenger, but just the mention in this survey shows that there is a lot to come. You have to know that the two products Google Messages and Google Duo are now the responsibility of Android product manager Hiroshi Lockheimer.

Just take a look at the following survey, which has already turned in a different direction. The first point, security updates, is THE ongoing topic for Android, but it’s a rather boring topic for the big stage. About messaging, one can speculate what will await us there. Maybe it has something to do with Google’s allegations against Apple’s iMessage.

“Cross-device updates” cannot yet be assigned, but it could be a P2P solution for quickly distributing updates from the Play Store. The last point, “new partnerships”, can cover all possible areas and cannot be classified either. But it’s nothing more than a teaser that we might be able to classify in a few days.
