Google Ads: This is how you can edit your advertising profile and hide ads from sensitive areas

The Google company has always been financed mainly from advertising and has perfected the creation of profiles for all registered users many years ago. Within the Google Display Network, you will mainly receive advertising that is tailored to your own interests. This interest group has been customizable for a long time, and now some sensitive areas can be almost completely hidden if desired.

Google creates interest profiles of all registered users via numerous sources, from web searches to Chrome and advertising banners, and uses these to display advertising. This makes it possible that the vast majority of advertisements should at least initially meet the taste of the user and thus have a higher chance that the user will click on them. Win-win-win for Google, advertising partners and also the advertisers.

In the display settings, you can look at your profile and remove individual areas there that you are no longer interested in. If you scroll all the way down, there is now a new option to completely hide some sensitive areas.

You can now select “show less” for the categories Alcohol, Dating, Gambling, Pregnancy and Parenting & Weight Loss. Google doesn’t guarantee that you won’t see ads from these areas afterward, but it will be very limited. However, if you hide this and still search for one of these topics, you will continue to see ads from this category.

My tip: Before you start on webmasters and their inappropriate advertising, just stop by there and adjust your own areas of interest.UPDATE: The new setting options should be available to all users starting today.
