Oxide Games works on a Microsoft exclusive: Will it be announced at the Xbox Showcase?

Jez Corden had already spoken in the past about Project Indus, a strategy game in development at the studios of Oxide Games, already known for the Ashes of Singularity series. Today these rumors seem to find confirmation.

In its recent job announcements, Oxide Games said they are committed to building a 4X strategy title (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate) in collaboration with a first-party partner. To confirm that it will be a Microsoft exclusive there is a clarification of the study, which is said to be particularly interested in those who already had experience with Xbox Live and the Microsoft Game Development Kit.

Jez Corden then intervened again to provide some more details. According to the head of Windows Central, Project Indus is a large-scale title similar in structure and mechanics to the well-known Civilization series.

The game has been in development for a few years already and should present a turn-based combat system according to Corden’s information, which therefore excludes that it may be a proper Real-Time Strategy game. Corden also added that the official Project Indus announcement could find space during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase set for June 12, the event that will illustrate the future of Xbox gaming.
