It was already hinted at, now it’s official: Android Auto is getting a new design. The only thing that surprises me is that Google didn’t show it yesterday at the I/O. Instead, today there is a separate message for the update.
In this case, the focus is not only on a new look for Android Auto, Google also had a motivation. Displays in cars have changed a lot in recent years and come in many sizes – Android Auto adapts:
According to Google, it has worked closely with many car manufacturers to offer a good experience with as many brands as possible. A good idea and a wish that I’ve had from time to time with the many test cars.
Some have very wide displays, some use portrait format, some have a nicely adjusted surface, and others have black bars. Now I just hope that Apple follows suit and adapts CarPlay as well.
