Google Pixel: Android update brings back vibration icon

Google plans to introduce a new option when Pixel devices are in vibrate mode for ringtones in a future Android update. Previously, there was a permanently visible icon in the status bar that informed the user when their device was in vibrate mode. Therefore, it vibrates or gives haptic feedback for notifications, but does not play any audible ringtones. This has been different for some time but should be changed again.

Google brings a permanent vibration icon back to the status bar

In the current beta of Android, there is a new option in the settings. Users could find them by accident. You can then decide for yourself whether the icon for the vibration mode should be displayed in the status bar. Currently, this option can be found in Android 12 QPR3, which is the next Pixel Feature Drop for next June. In the latest Android 13 beta, I could not find this option.

The screenshot shown is from Reddit user schrombear_23, who is extremely happy with his find. In normal Android 12, the icon is only visible when you swipe down from the notification bar. So it is only visible at a second glance, which annoys some users. Not optimally solved, as the Google developers have obviously recognized.

It is unclear when the new option will come

Based on the discovery, two scenarios are possible. Google either introduces the option directly with the last Pixel Feature Drop for Android 12 in June or tests the option for a release with Android 13 in the fall. It takes a little more patience to answer this question.
