Google Pixel Watch with display edges that are too fat?

Google unveiled the first Pixel Watch and has shown off the watch with footage. It was noticeable that the display edges are quite extensive. Google even used an optical trick for the design of the clock. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, for example, the entire visible front of the Google Pixel Watch is a large, round component made of glass. At first glance, this looks like a huge display.

The screen is surprisingly small

However, if you look at the watch with the display activated, the actual area of the screen is rather small. One could almost say that the display edges are far too thick or the display is far too small. Incidentally, I think it’s very good at this point that Google doesn’t use any tricks with its graphics to make the display appear larger. That is very fair to us and the customer.

The display hardly offers any space for content

It’s easy to see that the screen doesn’t offer a lot of space for content. The generous design of the graphic elements means that, for example, you cannot read very much of the incoming message notifications. However, Google has not yet revealed whether the Pixel Watch comes in different sizes and whether we may only see the smaller version here.

Which partner serves as a role model for Google?

Other manufacturers have different sizes. Samsung, for example, a very close Google partner, offers four variants of its current Galaxy Watch 4 (40, 42, 44 and 46 mm) and wants to continue with the Galaxy Watch 5 in a similar way. However, Google also draws on Fitbit’s know-how. There are always different smartwatch models, but only in one size.
