With the release of iOS 15.5 and macOS Monterey 12.4, Apple also updated Swift Playgrounds 4.1 today. The app guides users how to write code and develop apps. Swift Playgrounds 4.1 adds new features, new content, and bug fixes. New features include:
- Build Mac Apps with SwiftUI (requires macOS 12.4 or later)
- Guided demos teach you the basics of building SwiftUI apps
- App Preview shows updates in real-time as you make changes to the app
- Apps built with Swift Playgrounds can be run and installed to the Applications folder
- App Store Connect integration allows you to upload finished apps to the App Store (requires Apple Developer Program account)
- Smart inline code suggestions help you code quickly and accurately
- Project-wide search to find results across multiple files
- “Snippets Library” provides hundreds of SwiftUI controls, symbols and colors
- Support for Swift packages, allowing you to use publicly available code to enhance your app
- “App Projects” to easily move projects to and from Xcode
