FIFA Online 4 will not be affected by the termination of cooperation between EA and FIFA

South Korean publisher Nexon does not expect the end of the long-term partnership between EA and FIFA to affect the operations of FIFA Online 4. It’s a free-to-play PC game primarily for the Asian market, as well as a mobile game of the same name released in 2018. They are an offshoot of EA’s FIFA series.

A Nexon spokesperson said the team does not expect virtually any changes to the game, and Nexon has an agreement with EA so all athletes, stadiums and other features will remain in the game.

Last week, EA confirmed that it will not renew the FIFA brand license for its football game series but will rename the series EA Sports FC, and its partnership with FIFA will be launched later this year. It ends after the release of FIFA 23.

The news comes just days before Nexon reported its financial results for the first quarter of the year, which showed FIFA Online 4 and FIFA Online 4 mobile games had their best year ever. And Nexon expects both games to grow further in the next quarter, with “significant growth” in PC gaming.

Previously, it was reported that EA’s Austin studio will lay off as many as 100 people, many of which are related to FIFA 22’s live operations and the company’s customer service department. But a spokesperson said these had nothing to do with the EA Sports FC announcement and were not meant to reduce labor costs.
