Final Fantasy 15: The project was originally in development at the creators of dues EX

Over the last few hours, some very interesting background has emerged regarding the development of Final Fantasy XV. In fact, it would seem that, at least in principle, the project was in the hands of a Western team.

This information came thanks to a recent interview made by the TrueAchievements portal with Jonathan Jacque-BelletĂȘte, the former art director of Eidos Montreal. According to what was declared by the developer, the fifteenth chapter of the important videogame saga had been entrusted to Eidos Montreal, a software house known to the public both for having worked on the latest episodes of Deus Ex and for having created the recent Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, product that has welcomed the favor of the players net of sales not sufficient to meet the expectations of Square Enix.

It is a real shame that the news on the project has not been revealed by the artist, who has limited himself to confirm that, after the start of the works, the Japanese company has decided to transfer the project to the eastern headquarters. We, therefore, do not know if the version of the game that hit the shelves includes mechanics designed by Eidos Montreal or not and we will probably never know. The only certain thing is that the rumors about entrusting the game to the creators of Deus Ex, released by SuperBunnyHop in a 2018 video, were true.

With the hope that further details regarding the affair will emerge in the future, we remind you that Square Enix has sold Eidos Montreal, Square Enix Montreal and Crystal Dynamics.
