Sony’s new membership service PlayStation Plus Asian service is launched today (official guide), and Asian regions including Hong Kong will be the first to launch globally.
According to Sony, the PlayStation Plus membership service combines PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now to offer three membership plans to bring more choice and value to customers around the world: Basic, Premium and Premium (premium available in markets that don’t support streaming).
Sony will launch the new PlayStation Plus in most countries where PlayStation Network is available. The following is the service launch schedule (local time):
- Asia (excluding Japan): rollout starts today
- Japan: Expected June 2, 2022
- North and South America: Expected June 13, 2022
- Australia, New Zealand and Europe: Estimated June 23, 2022
The key benefits of each plan are shown in the table below:
Existing PlayStation Plus members will be transferred to PlayStation Plus Basic and enjoy the same benefits as current PlayStation Plus, such as PS4 and PS5 monthly games, exclusive discounts, and cloud storage for saving game data, online Multiplayer access rights, etc.
Existing PlayStation Now members will be transferred to PlayStation Plus Premium. The new PlayStation Plus service will continue to update games on a monthly basis, twice a month at the same frequency as PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now.
PlayStation Plus Basic
The PlayStation Plus base plan (and two higher-tier plans) will be the same as the current PlayStation Plus, with a monthly update on the first Tuesday of the month that adds new PS4 and PS5 games to the service.
PlayStation Plus Upgrade and Premium/Premium
- There will be an additional monthly update every month with new games added to the PlayStation Plus Upgrade and Premium/Premium plans. The number of games updated each month will vary.
The Hong Kong service price plans for each welfare plan are as follows (Hong Kong service does not provide a distinguished plan):
- PlayStation Plus Basic: HK$48 per month / HK$128 per quarter / HK$308 per year
- PlayStation Plus upgrade: HK$75 per month / HK$215 per quarter / HK$515 per year
- PlayStation Plus Premium: HK$85 per month / HK$239 per quarter / HK$599 per year
