Chrome will soon disable Google Discover completely

Chrome for Android will soon have a new option to completely hide Google Discover in the new tab. So far, you can “switch off” the Discover feed, but the head area remains visible.

Basically to remind you that there is a function that you can reactivate at any time. Things will look different in the future, as shown by the first screenshots by colleagues from 9to5Google.

Google’s intention is still unclear

If you turn off the Discover feed in one of the upcoming versions of Chrome for Android, everything else is gone too. So also the head area with the button for the settings. You will then probably only be able to repeat the feed directly via the main settings of the Chrome browser. It is unclear to us and our colleagues why Google is planning this new option when Discover is an important driver of traffic and thus advertising revenue.
