MIUI may soon allow the pre-download of game content

Xiaomi’s MIUI is one of the most feature-rich interfaces in the Android field since it offers many options and customization tools that allow you to have full control of the system. Soon MIUI could even update the games installed on the device in the background even before the update is released.

Analyzing the code of the latest version of the Mi Security app, XDA senior member kackrz found evidence of a new MIUI feature that will automatically download new game updates in the background as they become available.

f enabled, the function can automatically download new game content when the device is connected to Wi-Fi and the screen is off, however it is not entirely clear what exactly the term “predownload” refers to in the text strings inside the code.

MIUI may allow the “pre-download” of game content in the background

Apparently, this feature will simply download new game updates when they are released, but that doesn’t make sense considering the Google Play Store has long been offering automatic app updates, so the term “predownload” could actually refer to the ability to download new game content. in advance, before the update is actually released on the app store by the developer.

This way users won’t have to waste time downloading the new update and can start playing the latest version right away as soon as it’s available. Judging by the text strings present in the code it seems that the download of game content in the background only works with selected games and presumably only with those downloaded from the Xiaomi app store.

It is unclear if the background game content update feature will be limited to the Chinese version of MIUI or if it will become available globally, we also don’t know if or when Xiaomi plans to roll out the feature to users.
