Dark Souls: The servers of the series on PC are about to be back online, FromSoftware confirms

In an email sent to the PC Gamer editorial team a few hours ago, FromSoftware offered an update regarding the online features of the PC version of the Dark Souls trilogy, stating that they are “currently restoring the servers”, so it should be pretty close by now.

For the uninitiated, the servers of the Dark Souls series on PC have been offline for about 120 days. They were deactivated last January 23 to allow Bandai Namco to investigate a very serious vulnerability in the game code of the PC version of Dark Souls 3, unfortunately also shared with the first and second installments of the FromSoftware series. A few weeks ago, Bandai Namco confirmed that they are still working to fix the problem and now it finally appears that the servers are in the process of being fully operational again.

We are currently restoring the online servers for the Dark Souls series on PC, reads the email sent by FromSoftware to PC Gamer. We plan to gradually restore the online service for each game, restoring the servers for Dark Souls 3 once the necessary work is completed to correct the problem.

We will be providing further updates as soon as the rollback program is finalized. We want to thank all of our players for their patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue.

Unfortunately, FromSoftware has not indicated a precise date for the restoration of the servers of the Dark Souls trilogy on PC, even if by now it should be very close. Similarly, from the FromSoftware email, we guess that the games will come back online progressively, but it is not clear in what order. In short, we are waiting for further details.
