Google Drive adds shortcuts to Chrome and it becomes a pleasure to use

Google Drive is a very popular tool, especially for its multi-platform support, thanks to which you can have access to your files stored in the cloud on any device, from smartphone to PC.

In the past few hours, the team of the Mountain View giant announced with a post on the official blog the introduction of a series of shortcuts that will make the experience of using Google Drive on the Google Chrome browser even more enjoyable, all with the aim to greatly simplify file management.

Here are the shortcuts for Google Drive on Chrome

The development team has chosen to use standard key combinations, in order to avoid users getting confused. These are the key combinations to take advantage of the Google Drive shortcuts:

  • Ctrl + C to copy selection (⌘ instead of Ctrl on Mac)
  • Ctrl + X to cut selection (⌘ instead of Ctrl on Mac)
  • Ctrl + V to paste the selection (⌘ instead of Ctrl on Mac)
  • Ctrl + C and Ctrl + Shift + V to organize files in multiple locations without creating duplicates, using a special shortcut (⌘ instead of Ctrl on Mac)
  • Ctrl + Enter to open files or folders in a new tab (⌘ instead of Ctrl on Mac)

In addition, a link to the same file and its title will also be captured when copying a file, so users can easily paste them into a document or email.

Obviously, we are not faced with a revolutionary novelty but the addition of support to these shortcuts should simplify file management and make the experience of using Google Drive on Chrome more pleasant overall.

The team of the Mountain View giant has already kicked off the release of the new feature and within a few days, it should be available for all Google Workspace users and with a personal Google account.
