After the release of the May 2022 patch for the OnePlus 7 Pro, a user in the OnePlus official forum said that his phone has a battery-related bug.

User Said:

I updated my OnePlus 7 pro 2 months back for the first time and since then battery pattern is behaving unnaturally!!
Apparently, the ” Message ” app is chewing up 40-50% of my battery! I’m unable to understand how is that possible and read it’s a bug in the update of the OnePlus 7 pro. Is there any way I can downgrade my OS version or anyone can help me in resolving this scenario?
I have discharged the complete battery then kept it on charge for more than 10hours and kept the phone idle but in the end, it all boils down to this unreal battery consumption behavior!! How to deal with this upgrade please advise?

Here is the full changelog for the 7 Pro:

All information on your phone will be saved. Upon completion, your phone will reboot.

The software update includes the following:

  • Google security patch update to May 2022
  • During the installation, you will not be able to place or receive calls, including emergency calls.

OnePlus 7 Pro Summary:

The OnePlus 7 Pro features a brand new design, with a glass back and front and curved sides. The phone feels very premium but it’s also very heavy. The Nebula Blue variant looks slick but it’s quite slippery, which makes single-handed use a real challenge. It has a massive 6.67-inch ‘Fluid AMOLED’ display with a QHD+ resolution, 90Hz refresh rate and support for HDR 10+ content. The display produces vivid colors, and deep blacks and has good viewing angles.

The phone uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, which is said to be more power-efficient than the previous one. Performance is excellent as the phone can handle heavy apps and games with ease. The new OxygenOS 9.5 debuts some new features such as Fnatic mode for prioritizing games over notifications, an in-built screen recording, screenshot editor and more.

You also get stereo speakers here, for the first time in a OnePlus device. However, there’s no wireless charging or IP-rated waterproofing. The OnePlus 7 Pro also gets a new camera setup. The main 48-megapixel sensor captures detailed landscapes both day and night, but we did find the autofocus to be a little inconsistent when shooting macros. The 8-megapixel telephoto camera offers 3x optical zoom, while the 16-megapixel wide-angle camera captures more of the scene in from of you. You also get a 16-megapixel, pop-up selfie camera, which snaps decent selfies. Finally, the 4000mAh battery easily lasts for a full day on one charge and there’s fast-charging support too.

Note: Before upgrading to the latest version make sure your smartphone is connected with a proper internet connection, we recommend you to download it over WIFI so that you will not face any errors.
