Gran Turismo 7 again criticized for in-game microtransactions

The game “Gran Turismo 7“, a first-party title from Sony and the developer Polyphony for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, is again under criticism. So there was a lot of trouble with the microtransactions in the game and the in-game credits at launch. Unlocking the best vehicles was simply incredibly expensive and time-consuming. However, this was corrected with an update. A new patch now drastically increases the prices of many vehicles.

How did that happen? Well, Sony is working with insurance company Hagerty, which is helping to adjust the prices of some in-game vehicles (Legend Cars) to be as realistic as possible. This had a quite striking effect in patch 1.15. 27 vehicles have apparently become more expensive or are increasing in price, 21 remain the same price and the price of only two models is falling. The most striking is the Ferrari F40, which now costs almost twice as much: 2.6 million instead of 1.35 million credits.

As you can imagine, the adjustments have been received more badly by players. Some gamers accuse Sony and Polyphony of first giving in to appease the community and now more or less returning to launch status, which even some die-hard fans of the racing game series found to be a rip-off.

I haven’t played “Gran Turismo 7” myself yet and I don’t want to judge it. In general, however, I’m not a fan of microtransactions and can therefore understand the anger of the players in general.
