Ming-Chi Kuo: Apple won’t show realityOS or AR headsets at WWDC 2022

One of the highlights of the WWDC 2022 developer conference is AR headsets, which will be a whole new category for Apple. But unfortunately, two reliable analysts believe that Apple will not release related products or system introductions. Following Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, today Tianfeng Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also predicted that Apple would not show related products at WWDC 2022.

While Apple recently registered “realityOS,” analyst Ming-Chi Kuo doesn’t think AR headsets or their dedicated software will be shown to the media and other individuals in the coming days. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the head-mounted wearable device has not yet entered the mass production stage, indicating that the final product has not yet reached the completion stage.

Mr. Guo believes that there are several reasons. First, there’s a window of several months before the product’s official launch, during which time Apple’s competitors can copy every aspect of the AR headset, mainly its design, and incorporate it into their own devices. The same approach could be applied to realityOS, and soon, we’ll see companies roll out versions of their augmented reality or mixed reality headsets ahead of Apple.

OPPO is already working on launching its first pair of augmented reality glasses this year, followed by Xiaomi, which recently filed a patent for the same wearable. It’s no secret that Apple’s AR headset ran into problems when development began seven years ago.

A few weeks ago, reports surfaced that the device was experiencing some overheating and software issues, forcing Apple to delay the release of the AR headset until early 2023. In short, it makes more sense for Apple to delay product and software releases after everything is normal.
