Safari browser surpasses 1 billion users but is still far behind Chrome

A new report says Safari is now used by 19% of internet users, pushing its user base past 1 billion for the first time. According to the findings of the Atlas VPN team, 1,006,232,879 internet users (19.16% of all internet users) are now using the Safari browser, making it the second browser to have over 1 billion users. However, Google Chrome remains firmly in the top spot as the most popular browser.

These statistics are based on GlobalStats browser market share percentages, which are then converted to numbers using the Internet World Stats Internet User Metrics, to sum up, the exact numbers.

Those numbers mean that Safari has nearly 20 percent of the Internet browsers, but it still doesn’t match Google’s massive user base of 3.3 billion. As the report points out, Safari is Apple’s standard browser on all its operating systems such as iOS/macOS and devices such as iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and the Safari browser has implemented some privacy features to ensure the safety of its users. Recent user growth has also been driven by a slew of popular privacy features, including smart tracking prevention.

Compared to last year’s statistics, Microsoft Edge overtook Firefox to become the third most popular browser with more than 212 million users. Since the release of Windows 11, Microsoft has made it the default browser on all devices and made it difficult for users to change to their preferred choice. As a result, Edge’s user base has grown substantially.

Firefox browser ranks fourth, with 179 million Internet users. The Firefox browser is aimed at users who are more privacy-conscious as it offers quite a few features to protect them. Private browsing mode includes security against tracking, malware, phishing and pop-up blocking.

The Samsung Internet Browser, found on the companies’ smartphones and tablets, is used by more than 149 million users. Meanwhile, more than 108 million users are using the Opera browser to complete their daily tasks.

The web browser has evolved from a system for displaying text files to an all-encompassing tool for interacting with various online materials. Having a single platform to handle all these different functions and media forms is convenient for users, but it compromises security.
