Microsoft Edge 103 enters beta channel with improved security and better profile switching

Microsoft released Edge 102 on the Stable channel this week for all users (the only notable change is a new experimental redesign), rolled out Edge 104 to the Dev Channel, and now Edge 103 is available for testing on the Beta channel.

In terms of features and changes, Microsoft Edge Beta 103 is not the version with the biggest changes. Still, it brings important security improvements and better profile switching. New features in Edge Beta 103 include the following:

Ability to control automatic profile switching. The GuidedSwitchEnabled policy lets Microsoft Edge prompt the user to switch to the appropriate profile when it detects that a link is a personal or work link.

Enhance the security of web browsing. Users can browse the web safely with improved reliability and stability thanks to the rewritten network defense client on Microsoft Edge for Windows (previously known as Microsoft Defender SmartScreen).

In addition, there are several new strategies:

  • GuidedSwitchEnabled – Guided switches are enabled.
  • InternetExplorerZoomDisplay – Display zoom in IE mode tab, including DPI scale, just like in Internet Explorer.
  • LiveCaptionsAllowed – Allows live captions.
  • OriginAgentClusterDefaultEnabled – Origin-keyed agent clustering is enabled by default.

Edge 103 will remain in the beta channel for a 4-week testing period. According to the release schedule, Microsoft will release to all users of the stable channel during the week of June 23, 2022. Then Edge 104, which is currently available in Canary and Dev, will arrive in the Beta channel during the week of June 28, 2022.
