According to the Microsoft blog, Windows Insiders on Windows 10 21H2 received a new cumulative update today, released to the Release preview channel. It’s worth noting that only one fix is included, “Fixes an issue that prevented the filesystem control code (FSCTL_SET_INTEGRITY_INFORMATION_EX) from properly handling its input parameters.”
All fixes from last week’s optional KB5014023 update are included in this new version 19044.1741 (21H2) (KB5014023), which is optional, to test if some non-security fixes will pass the next “Patch Tuesday”, it will now pass the Release Obtained from the release preview channel.
The following is the optional patch KB5014023 update content
- A new sorting version 6.4.3 has been introduced that addresses sorting issues affecting Japanese half-width katakana.
- Prevent users from bypassing forced registration by disconnecting from the Internet when they login to Azure Active Directory (AAD).
- Fixed an issue that could run AnyCPU apps as 32-bit processes.
- Fixed an issue preventing Azure Desired State Configuration (DSC) scenarios with multiple partial configurations from working as expected.
- Fixed an issue affecting remote procedure calls (RPCs) to the Win32_User or Win32_Group WMI classes. Domain members running RPC contact the primary domain controller (PDC). When multiple RPCs occur simultaneously on many domain members, the PDC can be overwhelmed.
- Fixed an issue when adding a trusted user, group or computer with a one-way trust. The problem appears with the error message “The selected object does not match the type of the target source”.
- Fixed an issue that prevented the Application Counters section from being displayed in the Performance Monitor tool’s performance report.
- Fixed an issue that could affect some applications using d3d9.dll on some graphics cards and could cause those applications to close unexpectedly.
- Fixed a rare issue that prevented Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Outlook from opening.
- Fixed a memory leak that affected Windows systems at any time.
- Fixed an issue affecting IE modal window frames.
- Fixed an issue preventing Internet Shortcuts from updating.
- Fixed an issue that caused characters to be discarded when the user entered characters while converting text in an input method editor (IME).
- Fixed an issue that caused printing to fail when a Low Integrity Level (LowIL) app was printing to an empty port.
- Fixed an issue that prevented BitLocker encryption when the user was using the silent encryption option.
- Fixed an issue when applying multiple WDAC policies. Scripts may be blocked from running when a policy allows them to run.
- Fixed an issue affecting Microsoft Defender Application Guard (MDAG), Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Edge mouse cursor behavior and shape orientation. This problem occurs when the user turns on the virtual graphics processing unit (GPU).
- Fixed an issue that could cause the Remote Desktop client to stop working when a user ends a session.
- Fixed a reliability issue in the Terminal Services Gateway (TS Gateway) service that randomly caused clients to disconnect.
- Deploy Search Highlights to domain-joined devices. Users can configure search highlights enterprise-wide using the Search.admx file and the Group Policy settings defined in the policy CSP – Search.
- Fixed an issue where the Input Method Editor (IME) mode indicator icon displayed the wrong image when the user turned on Font Mitigation.
- Fixed an issue that caused a yellow exclamation mark to appear in Device Manager. This happens when a Bluetooth remote device advertises an Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) source (SRC).
- Fixed an issue where the Clustered Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) provider (ClustWMI.dll) was causing high CPU usage in WMIPRVSE.EXE.
- Fixed an issue that caused Microsoft’s deduplication driver to consume large amounts of nonpaged pool memory. This problem can use up all physical memory on the machine, causing the server to stop responding.
- Fixed an issue that caused file copying to be slower.
- Fixed an issue that could cause the system to stop responding when the user logged out while using Microsoft OneDrive.
- Fixed a known issue where recovery discs (CD or DVD) might fail to boot if the user created a recovery disc (CD or DVD) using the Backup and Restore (Windows 7) application in Control Panel. This issue occurs after installing Windows Updates released on or after January 11, 2022.
