Google Contacts changes its look on Wear OS 3 and becomes more modern

The Google developer team continues to release versions of the various applications dedicated to Wear OS 3 with a renewed interface and the latest in this series is Google Contacts.

Recall that with Wear OS 2 (or previous versions of the operating system) Google Contacts was part of the system and was updated together with it while now it is displayed in the Google Play Store as an app in its own right.

How the Google Contacts app for Wear OS 3 changes with version 1.4.1.x

The design of the new version of Google Contacts (ie 1.4.1.x ) is quite simple and has a button to start the search at the top, just below the time.

The individual contacts are displayed in pill-shaped containers and the first places in the list are occupied by “favorite” people while the display of the single contact has not been updated too drastically (the overall look is in any case consistent with the new design language).

Users have the ability to add a contact to the watch face to make calls or send messages quickly and will be displayed with their image (if any) or with the initial of the name.

A little curiosity related to the screenshots published by the Google team on the Play Store: the one showing the watch face with the hands (the third image) could come from the long-awaited Google Pixel Watch, at least this is what the thick design of the hour hand suggests.

Contacts on Wear OS 2

This new version of Google Contacts only appears on Wear OS 3 with Samsung Galaxy Watch4 series smartwatches while it does not appear as available on older smartwatches.

Users who want to install it quickly can find it by going to the smartwatch in the “Apps on your phone” section of the Google Play Store or through the search system.
