Google revamped exclusive battery widget for Google Pixel

A while ago, Google introduced a battery widget for Google Pixel in the Pixel Launcher. The actually good idea did not seem well thought out at first. There wasn’t as much variation in sizes, connected Wear OS devices didn’t show up, and you couldn’t pinpoint a good spot in the widget picker. Now almost all initial disadvantages are fixed!

The battery widget is now more flexible

With the very latest versions of Google and Android software, there is a much improved variant of the battery widget for us. So now it can be minimized to a size of 2×1, which is smaller than before. In addition, a total of three devices are now displayed simultaneously in the 5×1 size. For example phone, earphone left, earphone right.

Wear OS and Fitbit are supported, but still not fully

If the widget is smaller and you have more devices connected, there is now a counter of the connected Bluetooth devices. Maybe we should revisit this topic because I don’t think the mere counting of the connected devices is of much use to the user.

Interesting: The list of connected Bluetooth devices now also includes devices with Wear OS or Fitbit smartwatches. It’s just stupid that the battery status of these devices is still not displayed. That can not be that hard?

We also agree with the opinion of 9to5Google that Google still has some work to do.

The battery widget can now be found where you would expect it to be

A few days ago we reported that the battery widget can now be found in a new category in the widget list. From now on, the label of the category even makes sense.
