TikTok introduces new tools to control screen time

TikTok has a fairly young community, which also includes many teenagers. As one breaks down in a new blog post, one wants to ensure that users do not overexert themselves on the video platform. That’s why new tools are being introduced that allow users to keep track of their screen times.

This in-app dashboard lets you see how much time you’re spending on TikTok. It also breaks down for you the times when you are particularly active in the network – so maybe you shouldn’t let your employer or teacher see that. It is also possible to set limits for yourself, i.e. maximum screen times per session or day. TikTok already offered the latter, but the possibilities are being expanded.

For example, you can set up the app to remind you to take a break after a certain amount of time. Coincidentally, TikTok is not getting to work right now: In many countries, the influence of social networks such as TikTok, but also Instagram, on the mental development of young people is currently being examined. Instagram itself had already established in internal studies that not everything looks rosy there.
