Street Fighter 6 supports cross-play and netcode rollback

Street Fighter 6 will have advanced online multiplayer with support for cross-play and net code rollback, Capcom reported during the Summer Game Fest 2022, confirming some important evolutions for the fighting game.

Street Fighter 6 is present in playable form at the Summer Game Fest these days, which has allowed us to try this new chapter of the Capcom series, which, for the moment, seems rather convincing.

Also interesting are the features announced by the developers, including this improved online multiplayer with the addition of some technical features that have become of considerable importance.

Cross-play will therefore allow you to fight between players on different platforms and is an important feature in a game that has returned to being cross-platform, given that in addition to PlayStation PC it will also be available on Xbox Series X | S, significantly expanding the community and hence the pool of challengers.

As for the netcode rollback, it is a method that allows you to improve the inevitable latency that can emerge from the online connection: in practice, the game makes a sort of prediction on the move that the opponent could make, eventually replacing it in the race with the one actually done through the rollback.

Although it seems an artificial measure and destined to create confusion, it has actually been found to be very interesting also for the accuracy of artificial intelligence and is rather appreciated by players where it is present. In Street Fighter 6 we saw the first gameplay video with Guile at the Summer Game Fest 2022.
