Does POCO Launcher 4.0 exist? Yes, but there is a “but” | Download

An official announcement is still missing, but according to the testimonies published on the net, the new POCO Launcher 4.0 is about to be launched. It was 2018 when the Pocophone F1, a smartphone that broke the market, became the spiritual heir of the first OnePlus One. It was a smartphone with excellent hardware in relation to the price, but the software was not far behind.

For the occasion, in fact, Xiaomi decided to create an ad hoc launcher that distanced itself from MIUI: this was how the much appreciated POCO Launcher was born. The success was such that Xiaomi decided to make it available to anyone by releasing it directly on the Google Play Store.

It only took a few months for it to exceed one million downloads from the Google store, so it’s no surprise that many are waiting for the debut of POCO Launcher 4.0. Also because version 2.0 arrived in 2019, while version 3.0 has never been officially talked about but only in the rumors.

It was even rumored that the development of POCO Launcher could be interrupted and that POCO smartphones would begin to mount the classic MIUI. The same management of POCO did not hide the conflicts with the Xiaomi development team, given the complaints received in terms of software support.

Although the POCO Launcher 3.0 does not exist and is still stuck at version 2.0, a leak would reveal the existence of the POCO Launcher 4.0 (as you can see in these videos). It is not known why it was decided to skip a version, the fact is that according to rumors this app update on the Google Play Store would be available only to POCO smartphones and not for all Android smartphones.

Specifically, we talk about POCO Launcher 4.36 and its innovations, including the improvement of the animations for the home screen and app drawer, the horizontal arrangement for the recent apps screen and the various functions of the MIUI Launcher. There would also be bad news, however, as support for third-party icons appears to be removed. All that remains is to wait for its release on the Google store to be able to bring you our in-depth test.

POCO Launcher 4.0 does not exist

We have been waiting to understand the situation better, but now it seems clear enough: POCO Launcher 4.0 does not exist. It was early May when we were talking about version 4.36 of the launcher dedicated to POCO smartphones.

At the time it was only available in Beta and we wondered why the company had decided to skip the third edition. After more than a month, we have arrived at the stable version 4.38, but by installing it what you get is simply a more updated version of the POCO Launcher 2.0.

It can also be seen from the Play Store, where the POCO launcher is still stopped at the second official version. In a nutshell, this version 4.xx is nothing more than an incremental update of the launcher, and this explains why the innovations introduced are, after all, negligible.

If really POCO had jumped from version 2.0 to version 4.0, we imagine that the news would be very incisive that a few adjustments here and there. Not to mention that the POCO team would have seized the ball to announce the news to its audience.

That said, if you have an Android smartphone (even not POCO), you can try this new version of the POCO Launcher 2.0 by downloading it from our article.
