Google Assistant loses function – more focus on Android

In about a year it will be over, then the so-called Conversational Actions for Google Assistant will no longer exist. Instead, Google is now focusing even more on the Android platform in this area. The so-called Conversational Actions were the first possibility of voice-controlled integration of third-party applications into the world of Google Assistant.

Actions for Android apps are given a new meaning

Google is now focusing more on Google Assistant for Android and is pushing the Actions app launched in 2019. Instead of developing completely new products, app developers can use App Actions to add voice control functions to their existing Android apps. Nevertheless, there should be no noticeable changes for users of the Nest displays, which are known to not run Android.

Looking ahead, we envision a platform that is intuitive, natural, and language-centric—and one that allows developers to leverage the entire Android ecosystem of devices so they can easily reach more users. We’re always striving to improve the Assistant experience, and we believe App Actions is the best way to do it.

Of course, Google is addressing all platforms in the Android ecosystem and not just smartphones.
