Xiaomi Mi Band 7: It still fails with the pedometer

In the first few hours with the Smart Band 7 from Xiaomi, I noticed another serious weakness. Furthermore, the smart bracelet only seems to be able to count your steps if you move your arm to your steps. If you push a stroller or have a rather steady arm for other reasons, you will have significantly fewer steps on your account.

Not the right sensors under the hood?

I know this is for technical reasons. The internal sensors must somehow be able to detect movement in order to count steps. This is difficult when the arm is completely still. Or it probably needs other sensors from other price categories. At a price of 50 – 60 euros, there are limits somewhere, I can understand that.

But somehow I am very annoyed that these hurdles have not yet been overcome. At the end of my walk in the morning, there are only 2000 steps on the clock, although we have almost 5000 behind us. It’s still a bit annoying to have to live with these problems after such a long time.

Other manufacturers have a solution. Samsung, for example, compares smartwatch pedometers with smartphone pedometers.
