MacBooks and iPads from 2024 will probably have OLED displays for the first time

We’ve often heard that Apple would like to offer OLED displays on other devices as well. OLED is currently only found in the iPhone and the Apple Watch, but you save on the investment with an iPad or MacBook.

But that should change from 2024, according to the very well-informed display source Ross Young. Among other things, a new MacBook with 13 inches and OLED is planned at Apple. He’s betting on a MacBook Air but doesn’t know what it will be.

Apple iPad: OLED only on Pro models

In addition, this year we will also see the move to OLED in the iPads, but only in the Pro models. The large iPad Pro now comes with mini LEDs, but the small iPad Pro is outdated in terms of display technology.

An 11-inch iPad Pro with OLED and 120Hz would be high on my wish list, but I’m also concerned that we won’t see an upgrade in this area in 2022 and 2023 because Apple doesn’t switch technologies that often.

When the big iPad Pro was introduced with mini-LEDs, I would have thought that this was the future of tablets. But it is probably only an intermediate step for the large iPad Pro, in the long term, Apple also wants to switch to OLED for tablets.
