TikTok tests new feature that allows users to see which followers watch their videos

As TechCrunch reports, TikTok is testing a new feature that will allow users to see which of their followers have watched their videos. On the other hand, the people you follow will be able to see that you viewed their posts. A TikTok spokesperson told TechCrunch that the new feature is not yet widely available, suggesting it is currently part of a limited test with some users.

The feature was first spotted online by social media consultant Matt Navarra, who posted screenshots showing the new feature. The screenshots show TikTok calling the feature “Post View History.” They also show that users can turn off the feature at any time from the settings menu. Also, it appears that the post browsing history is only available for seven days from the date the video was posted.

A TikTok spokesperson told TechCrunch, “We’re always thinking of new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience.”

As with other beta features, it’s unknown when or if TikTok plans to roll out the feature more broadly. If officially launched, it would expand on TikTok’s current capabilities, allowing users to see who viewed their profiles. This feature is only available for users over the age of 16 with fewer than 5,000 followers.

If users have access to post-viewing, they will see an eye icon in the upper right corner when viewing their profile. If you click on it, users will see who has viewed their profile in the past 30 days.

Users have to manually opt-in to TikTok profile browsing, but it is not known if this is the case with post browsing history. TikTok doesn’t say whether others will only be able to see that you’ve watched their videos if you turn on the feature yourself, like profile browsing.

This new feature could be a welcome addition for those who want to keep track of who watched their content, but on the other hand, it could be a nuisance for those who want to keep their viewing history function.
