Linus Torvalds took some time today to merge the last pull request of the week and released Linux 5.19-rc3 as the latest weekly test kernel. Linux 5.19-rc3 includes mitigations for the MMIO Stale Data vulnerability, along with last month’s Intel CPU microcode. The MMIO Stale Data patch has been rolled back to the stable kernel series.
As for other changes, Torvalds wrote in the 5.19-rc3 announcement:
- It’s Sunday afternoon, which means it’s time to release rc again.
- The changes in 5.19-rc3 are fairly minor, the main change of interest is diffstat (a program for checking large complex patch files), a lot of stuff about it ends up in the docs subdirectory, and a big chunk in self-testing.
- But we also have real code changes, fairly evenly distributed among drivers, architectural fixes, and “other code”. The rest of the code is mostly filesystem fixes, but also some core kernel and networking.
- The full short log is attached, but so far everything looks fine. Knock on the blackboard.
