Google Password Manager

Google Password Manager

With the latest update of Google Play Services, released this month, it is now possible to insert a shortcut to the Google Password Manager directly on the home screen of your smartphone or tablet with an Android operating system.

Let’s find out how to take advantage of this convenient shortcut since, at least at the moment, it is not among those that can be inserted starting from the widget menu.

Google password manager on the home: here’s how

The Mountain View giant offers, both on the Android operating system and on the Chrome browser, a service that allows users to save all the passwords necessary to log in to apps, services and websites, keeping them protected with all security measures that characterize Google accounts.

Among the various possibilities, the Google Password Manager also allows you to generate complex and unique passwords for each account and, even, to check if some of the user’s passwords have been compromised (i.e. leaked in data leaks and the like).

As anticipated only a few lines ago, the Google password manager is present on Android but also on the Chrome browser. For those who are not aware of this feature, here is, in the meantime, how to reach it:

The novelty introduced this month, which according to a dedicated support page occurs starting from the update to version 22.18 of the Google Play Services, concerns Android smartphones/tablets and allows (interested) users to add a convenient shortcut to the Manager. of Google passwords directly on the home screen of your device.

To do this, after opening the Password Manager by following the path “ Settings> Privacy> Google Autofill> Passwords ”, just select the gear (placed immediately under the Google account avatar) to enter the dedicated settings.

At this point, as you can also see in the following gallery, it will be sufficient to select the new item “ Add shortcut to the Home screen ”; by tapping, the classic dialog box will open which will allow you to add the shortcut to the home screen (it will be added in the first free slot).

Once this is done, you will be able to easily access the Google Password Manager, at any time, directly from your home screen. Although the tests were carried out by us on a Google Pixel 6 , the novelty should be available for all Android devices, as long as the Google Play Services is updated to at least version 22.18 of the app.
