The Android 13 beta for Galaxy S22 could arrive sooner than expected

According to what was reported by the specialized portal GalaxyClub.nl, Samsung has already started preparing the beta of Android 13 for its most recent flagships, namely the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphones.

This could indicate that the beta program, this year, could start one or even two months earlier than in previous years, opening the scenarios to an early arrival even of the definitive ROMs, at least on the exponents of the Galaxy S22 series.

Galaxy S22 and Android 13: something is moving

The release of each new version of the Android operating system is anticipated by a long beta testing process; even the various non-Google manufacturers test the new software in preview before releasing it on their smartphones and Samsung is no exception, testing the paired new version of Android + new version of the One UI, before the actual release.

Even in the case of Android 13 and the Galaxy S22 series, the practice is respected even if, most likely, there could be some surprises on the timing and extension (geographically) of the beta testing program.

As suggested by the TizenHelp portal, Samsung has already started the development of the beta firmware for its Galaxy S22 in South Korea, the manufacturer’s hometown: this detail suggests that the beta program, in general, could start this year earlier than past.

Last year, in the case during the development of the update of the Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra to the One UI 4.0 based on Android 12, no beta firmware emerged until the end of July and the actual beta program only started in the middle. September; the timing for the Galaxy S22 seems to be at least a month in advance: therefore, the possible first beta could arrive already between the end of July and the beginning of August.

The One UI 5 will have to be “tuned” on Android 13

Unlike those manufacturers who do not add a customized interface to their smartphones (see Motorola, just to give an example), Samsung will not simply have to test Android 13 on their smartphones but will have to test the pairing between the next One UI 5 and Android 13.

The One UI 5 should not overwhelm the already very complete One UI 4.1 (based on Android 12) but it should still implement new features that Google itself has not included on Android 13 in the stock version.

However, Samsung’s main objective seems to be to make its customized interface fluid and snappy, to guarantee users, both those who use top-of-the-range smartphones and those who use less-performing smartphones, an experience never experienced so far on a Smartphone.

The South Korean manufacturer will therefore have to try to best tune the One UI 5 on Android 13, in order to achieve the desired objectives, both on the Galaxy S22 and on the other smartphones of the house that will be updated to the next version of the operating system (find here the probable list of smartphones that will be updated).

Which countries could the beta program arrive in?

There is no certainty about the countries in which Samsung will make the beta program available to preview the One UI 5 + Android 13 pairing on the Galaxy S22 , S22 + and S22 Ultra. However, there is a little reasoning to be done, also because, compared to last year, the South Korean manufacturer has changed the cards on the table, eliminating the firmware based on the countries and creating a single firmware for the European region (it includes almost all); the reasoning applies, however, only to so-called ” no-brand ” smartphones (those not customized by telephone operators).

Although in the past the beta program was only available on devices belonging to a limited number of countries, this new strategy with a single European ROM could allow all European owners of a Galaxy S22 to participate in the program and test the novelties in advance.

There is still nothing official: Samsung will provide the necessary answers only when the beta program is officially launched, first in South Korea and then in Europe. In the coming weeks, details (more or less official) will certainly emerge on which Galaxy S22 will be able to participate in the beta program of Android 13.
