Sleep profiles: Google introduces new Fitbit feature

Google has announced a new feature for premium Fitbit users that will provide you with sleep profiles. To get an accurate analysis of your sleep, you need to sleep with a Fitbit wearable on your wrist for at least 14 days.

According to Google, the first analysis will take place in the week of July 4th, as it is already the end of June. After that, there is always an analysis of your sleep on the 1st day of a new month. And as I said, you need Fitbit Premium for this feature.

According to Google, this feature is available for the Fitbit Sense, Versa 3 and Versa 2 – and the trackers support Charge 5, Luxe and Inspire 2. The wearables collect data while you sleep and then it is analyzed based on 10 metrics.

After the initial analyses, you will also be placed into one of six groups, symbolized by an animal in the Fitbit app. However, Google also states that this new analysis from Fitbit is not intended for medical purposes.

What I find interesting at this point: Apple also delivers better sleep analysis with watchOS 9, but adds new functions for free. Google actually does this too, but in this case, they are pushing Fitbit’s subscription model.
