Chrome 104 Beta is already available and these are its news

A few hours after the release of version 103 of Google Chrome, the team of developers of the Mountain View giant has released a new beta dedicated to those who want to try out the news in the testing phase: we are obviously talking about version 104.

What’s new in the 104 Beta version of Google Chrome

Among the various innovations introduced by the Google team with this beta version, the most interesting are represented by the Privacy Sandbox screen renewed in the settings, further improvements to the multi-screen functionality for desktop devices and improvements to videoconferencing.

Privacy Sandbox

The Google team is working on a replacement for third-party cookies that will still allow the company and other advertisers to show personalized ads. At the moment the Mountain View giant is experimenting with the Privacy Sandbox function, a solution that analyzes which websites are visited by the user and generates potential interests, all locally in the browser.

Websites and ad networks can then ask Google Chrome to grant them access to topics only, not actual browsing history. Version 103 of the browser allows users to take part in a test, and the revamped version of Privacy Sandbox now explains how the system works, while also providing a list of interests while browsing.

Multi-screen functionality improvements

Web apps are becoming more and more performing and much of the credit for this improvement goes to Google. The latest developer feature allows websites and web apps to place full-screen content or pop-up windows on secondary screens, all with a single click or tap from a user.

This can be useful if you are using a web app to present your content, for example, as this will allow you to keep your notes on your computer screen and show the presentation in full screen on the projector.

Video conferencing enhancements

Another novelty related to web apps is the feature called Region Capture, whose job is to allow applications to cut and omit certain parts of video streams before they are shared. This should be useful for example if you are sharing your screen in a video conference, to avoid the so-called “mirror effect”.
