13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 chip now available at Apple Store

The two standard configurations of the new 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M2 chip are available for purchase or same-day pickup at select Apple Stores worldwide starting today (June 24, US time). The first online orders are also starting to reach customers.

Apple began taking orders for the new 13-inch MacBook Pro on Friday, and some custom configurations with upgraded specs may not arrive until August. The new 13-inch MacBook Pro has the same design as the previous model — including the Touch Bar.

The only notable change is the addition of an M2 chip with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU. Compared with the M1 chip, the M2 chip can be up to 18% faster than its predecessor in CPU speed, and up to 35% and 40% faster in GPU speed and neural engine speed, respectively, Apple said.

With the M2 chip, the 13-inch MacBook Pro can be configured with up to 24GB of unified memory, while the M1 chip has a maximum of 16GB. Consistent with previous models, the notebook also supports up to 2TB of SSD storage.

Pricing for the 13-inch MacBook Pro in the U.S. still starts at $1,299, and it’s available in silver and space gray. Apple has not announced an order date for the new MacBook Air with the M2 chip.
