Apple Quietly Raises Prices for Music Student Plans in US, Canada and UK

Mainstream music streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music all offer active students a cheaper tier package and verify it. 9to5Mac readers have discovered that Apple has quietly raised the student-level fees for Apple Music in the US, Canada, and the UK.

The fee will increase from $4.99 to $5.99 in the US and Canada, and from £4.99 to £5.99 in the UK. This comes a few weeks after Apple Music raised the cost of its student package in several other countries in Africa, Asia Pacific and Oceania.

Apple’s Music Voice Plan will remain the same as before at $4.99. The plan lets users enjoy Apple Music only by asking Siri to listen to tracks on Apple devices. Apple Music’s standard individual and family plans remain priced at $9.99 and $14.99, respectively.

Given that Apple has raised prices for students, it wouldn’t surprise users if rivals Spotify and YouTube Music followed suit.
