Microsoft fixes Windows 11 Wi-Fi hotspot issues

Microsoft officially announced a new known issue. According to Microsoft, the company’s latest cumulative update for Windows, released on June 14, caused problems with Wi-Fi hotspots, mainly on OS build 22000.739 (KB5014697), and users complained.

“After installing this update, Windows devices may not be able to use Wi-Fi hotspot functionality. When attempting to use hotspot functionality, the host device may lose its connection to the Internet after the client device connects,” Microsoft said.

Needless to say, everyone understands that this was a major blunder, and it was a very bad experience for Windows. But luckily, Microsoft now has a full fix ready. Now, Microsoft has addressed this issue with cumulative update KB5014668. Of course, the KB5014668 update is currently only available as an optional update on Windows 11, you have to manually go to Windows Update and check for updates to download and install.

However, not only Win11 users are affected by it, all current mainstream Windows versions (including Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and several Windows Server versions) have this problem, I hope Microsoft can provide a solution as soon as possible, but I am afraid It will have to wait until the next Tuesday in July at the earliest.

Microsoft yesterday released new optional updates (C-Updates) for all supported versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11. Win11 users can download the KB5014668 patch, which can increase the system version number to Build 22000.778 after installation, but Microsoft has not confirmed the content of the fix at the time.

It is worth mentioning that KB5014668 also has bugs. For example, some .NET Framework 3.5 apps may experience issues or may not open after installing this update. Affected apps use some optional components in .NET Framework 3.5, such as Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and Windows Workflow (WWF) components, there is currently no good solution, you can programmatically through the command prompt Do this (run as administrator) and run the following commands:

dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:netfx3 /all
dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:WCF-HTTP-Activation
dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:WCF-NonHTTP-Activation
