Microsoft Edge browser IE mode tabs are stuck, which fixed by rolling back the update

Microsoft terminated support for Internet Explorer 11 this month and recommended that users use the Internet Explorer (IE) compatibility mode of the Edge browser to browse the web. However, in the Win11 cumulative update KB5014019, Microsoft said that there was a bug in the IE mode of the Edge browser:

After installing the KB5014019 and later updates, IE modal tabs in Microsoft Edge may stop responding when the site displays a modal dialog. A modal dialog is a form or dialog that requires the user to respond before interacting with the rest of the web page or application. Developer’s Note: The site affected by this issue is called window.focus.

Affected users do not need to take any action. Microsoft says it has used a rollback mechanism to undo faulty updates without installing additional patches. Edge browser IE mode will get a fix soon, the only thing users can do is restart the computer to get the rollback faster.

According to the official documentation, the issue affects users with Windows 11 21H2, Windows 10 21H2/21H1/20H2 and Windows Server 2022.
