Apple Watch 8 starts to squeeze toothpaste: one processor uses three generations

After Moore’s Law has slowed down, Apple’s processor iterations also seem to be starting to squeeze the toothpaste. In fact, since the A14, everyone complained that the performance improvement was not as obvious as before.

This year, it is said that the two non-Pro models in the iPhone 14 will stay at the A15, which is really surprising. Not only that, it is reported that this autumn’s Apple Watch Series 8 will be equipped with the main processor chip called S8, which looks very good, but it is not.

It turns out that the S8 is exactly the same as the S7 on the Apple Watch 7 and even the S6 on the Apple Watch 6. Both are dual-core 1.8GHz designs, but the names are different. In other words, Apple’s processor actually has to be used for three years and three generations.

This means that the AW8 will not have the functions of body temperature monitoring and blood sugar monitoring that everyone expects in the hardware functions. Mark Gurman, an Apple writer, said, thinking about the real new processor and more health functions, wait for Apple Watch 9 next year.

In other respects, the AW8 watch is said to be available in three sizes, but there is no evidence that it will switch to a right-angle bezel design.
