All new iPhones released this fall will continue to use the Lightning port, but a transition to USB-C is expected in 2023, Apple reporter Mark Gurman wrote on his latest show Power On on Monday. Although the mobile phone is slow, it is not difficult to comb through the Apple tablet product line. In fact, only the most entry-level iPad digital series still stays in the Lightning port, and the iPad mini/Air/Pro have all launched USB-C.
The same is what Gurman said, he said that the iPad 10 updated in the fall will switch to the USB-C interface, which means that the entire Apple iPad series will bid farewell to Lightning from now on.
Frankly speaking, the advantages of USB-C outweigh the disadvantages in the long run, including faster transmission speed, less waste of wire/charging head abuse, etc.
Of course, in order to maintain a cheap positioning, the iPad 10 will be equipped with a larger 10.5-inch Retina screen, upgraded 5nm A14 processor, the cellular version will add support for 5G networks for the first time, and the battery life will be better.
