Wear OS will continue to be compatible with the Apple iPhone

Last year, Google presented Wear OS 3, a new version for wearables, which was exclusively made available to Samsung for a year. And they didn’t want to offer their new Wear OS smartwatch for Apple’s iPhone.

So the question arose as to whether this was a Samsung decision or whether Google had cut support for the iPhone. In any case, that wouldn’t be a big surprise, because iPhone users are more likely to buy an Apple Watch.

Wear OS 3 will be compatible with iOS

A few days ago the first non-Samsung smartwatch with Wear OS 3 was announced and it comes from Montblanc. According to Google, more models will come in the fall, and the first Pixel Watch has already been confirmed.

We don’t know about the other models but Wear OS 3 will basically continue to be compatible with the Apple iPhone and iOS. That’s what Montblanc revealed, which probably has many iPhone users as a target group.

According to Google, “Wear OS 3’s focus will be qualified for the Android ecosystem,” but it won’t cut Apple if its partners want it to. Sounds to me like the Pixel Watch won’t be compatible.

But to be honest: Apple has severely restricted the interfaces for smartwatches from other providers anyway and offers a very good smartwatch with the Apple Watch. I honestly wouldn’t want to compete against these.
