WhatsApp Beta is releasing a new version of Message Reactions

Today, WhatsApp has started the release of a new update of the Beta version of the application for Android through the Google Play Beta Program: version 2.22.15.6 has arrived. At the same time, the new Beta for iOS was released in the App Store. In both cases, the most interesting novelty of this new version of the app concerns the reactions to messages: after making them available to all users, the well-known instant messaging service is already renewing them.

In recent weeks we have told you a lot of interesting news related to WhatsApp, both for the stable version and for the Beta. Starting right from the reactions to the messages finally available for everyone, to the new end-to-end encryption indicators arriving, passing through the future possibility of use on more than one smartphone and the tools for group administrators, up to the work of improvement of ephemeral messages. Without forgetting the extended groups of up to 512 people available to everyone, the list of former participants, and the WhatsApp Premium subscription plan.

The most recent changes concern groups, as well as the future possibility of editing text messages and using avatars in video calls, sending files, the double verification code to combat account theft, the return to the old home screen, and new options for privacy and status updates. If you missed any of this news, you can retrieve them via the links above, but now let’s take a look at this renewal that the WhatsApp development team is making to the reactions to the messages.

WhatsApp Beta: the news of the update 2.22.15.6

Almost two months have passed since WhatsApp made the reactions to the messages available to all its Android and iOS users (not only for those of the beta branch) and we can already see the first signs of renewal of the function.

In fact, while in the test phases there was talk of the possibility of using any keyboard emoji as a reaction, the first public version of the reactions limits the choice to only six options. Fortunately, the team has decided to move forward: some users of beta versions 2.22.15.6 and 2.22.15.7 for Android and 22.14.0.71 for iOS have already received the possibility to use all emojis as reactions to messages.

Verifying whether the news has already been made available for your account or not is very simple: all you have to do is try to react to a message; as you can see in the following screenshots, the novelty is presented in the form of a convenient “+” button to the right of the emojis previously usable. A tap on the new key does nothing but open the keyboard, allowing the user to choose any of the emojis therein to react to the message. In the case of iOS, there is also a handy section that you can drag to easily search and select the desired emoji.

Unfortunately, at present the new version of the reactions to WhatsApp messages is only available for a small number of users of the beta branch; the good news, however, is that the distribution is underway, so in the next few weeks it should reach all the beta testers first and then also the stable version of the app.
