Fossil launches a new smartwatch and prepares a companion app for Wear OS 3

It’s called the Fossil Gen 6 Venture Edition and it’s a new version of the smartwatch that features some design changes, including a new strap. The smartwatch has already appeared in the United States on Amazon, where it is offered at $ 299, taking up the design and characteristics of the series but with some small innovations, such as a silver body with an engraved ring around the bezel and a strap that combines eco-leather and recycled nylon.

Among the main features of the smartwatch, we find a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processor, a 1.28-inch AMOLED display, 1 GB of RAM and a 44 mm case. Finally, there is a special dial that shows the information on the distance traveled, the duration and altitude of the excursion, as well as the compass, heart rate monitoring and blood oxygen measurements.

At the moment it is not clear if the Fossil Gen 6 Venture Edition, which is currently on sale in India, will also arrive in Italy on Amazon.

Fossil works on the companion app for Wear OS 3

Wear OS 3 should be released for smartwatches animated by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processor in the second half of 2022 and it seems that Fossil has plans to develop a special new version of its companion app.

According to what emerges from a post published on Reddit, Fossil will kick off the update to Wear OS 3 for its compatible smartwatches in the last months of this year, and reference is made to a new version of the companion app that should allow users to make the most of the platform’s potential.

Among the new features of the next version of the Fossil, the companion app will be more customization options and a summary of health and wellness statistics (with a less confusing interface). The team of developers also promises that other features will be introduced in the following months.
