Last week, EA’s battle royale game “Apex Legends” launched an awakening collection event. In this event, players can acquire rare heirloom melee weapons from the legendary Valkyrie by purchasing and collecting a specified number of skins and accessories. But the update caused an unexpected problem: For Xbox console players only, the console as a whole became sluggish when playing Apex Legends.
Not only in Apex, but Xbox console users will also experience sluggish controller input when playing other games later. Restarting the console seems to make the stutter go away, but the stutter persists after starting the game. And some players have found their own solution: rolling back the firmware of the Xbox wireless controller can also temporarily solve the problem, but the problem is that these are not long-term solutions.
Xbox Series X console users reported this issue the most, and the most frequent issue was with the Elite controller. The official response to the issue last week said only that “the team is investigating.” Beyond that, EA, Respawn and Microsoft have so far not responded to the issue.
For players with second-generation Elite controllers, rolling back the firmware to the Xbox One version can resolve the issue. Other players have also tried using a wired connection. Although this can solve the problem of input loss, the stutter and lag have not been solved.
